Q.I have installed the trial version, can connect to the server, but I cannot stop a service, use telnet or see the amount of free memory?
A. Older Mobile Administrator trial version did have these restrictions. Please uninstall you current version and download the latest trial version of the software to gain full access to all features for 14 days.
Q. I have installed the server, but when I try to start it I get the message that server can not be started and that some other program is most likely using the specified port number?
A. Change the Mobile Administrator port number and try again. If you are running an ftp server on your machine and at the same time trying to run Mobile Administrator Server on port 21 (default ftp port) you will most likely want to change the Mobile Administrator port number to something else. Default Mobile Administrator port number is 70.
Q. I am upgrading from trial to a full version of the server, do I have to uninstall the old version first?
A. No. Simply enter your username and key that you have received after your purchase and your software will be fully functional.
Q. Can I disable Mobile Administrator server remotely?
A. Yes. Just stop the Mobile Administrator Service and it will be disabled. To enable it again you will have to restart the service or reboot your server.
Q. My mobile phone display is to small, can I adjust the number of services listed per one page so that I can navigate easier?
A. Yes. Open the Mobile Administrator Control Panel and adjust the number of services per HTML/WML page on the "Advanced" tab to fit your needs.
Q. Can I use my Psion mobile device with Mobile Administrator?
A. Psion devices have not been tested with Mobile Administrator yet, but since there is a new Psion WAP browser available - it should work. For more information go to Psion WAP page Psion.com
Q. I want to access a computer behind my firewall. Can I still control it with Mobile Administrator?
A. Yes, but you will have make some changes to your firewall. For example, if the machine you want to access has an IP address of 192.168.100.10 and Mobile Administrator is configured to listen on port 70, you should map one port on your firewall to redirect to machine 192.168.100.10, port number 70. After you did that, you will be able to access the machine at 192.168.100.10 by typing in the address of your firewall and the port number you have used to redirect to your machine. For multiple machines map one port number for each machine. If your Web Server is on your internal network the best solution is to use the Mobile Administrator Web Bridge. That way you do not have to open any additional ports on your firewall and you can configure multiple connections for different machines.
